Stéphane Desprez, former Competition Director of the 2008 Rugby World Cup in France, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the World Air Sports Federation. The 103rd FAI General Conference held this month in Incheon, Korea, was a landmark event at a time when the geopolitical and economic centre-of-gravity of the world is moving steadily to the East. A series of over 40 winning paintings from the FAI Young Artists Contest is currently on public display on the campus of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. The exhibition organised by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) shows how young people around the world conceive of aviation and space in their imaginations. At 12:00 today the 53rd Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett, the famous international FAI aeronautical gas balloon race named after the US Media tycoon James Gordon Bennett, came to a fantastic close with the final landing of the 16th competitor in Portelas / Portugal, barely 20 km from the most western tip of the European Continent, and only about 4 km from the Atlantic ocean. 53rd Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett

FAI media partner Flying Aces Ltd today confirmed that the Internet sports TV channel airsports.tv would host exclusive live online coverage of the 25th FAI World Aerobatic Championship on 28 and 29 August 2009. The original Aero Club of the Czech Republic was founded in the autumn of 1909, but it was after the First World War, in March 1919, that the renamed Czechoslovak Aviation Club first became a member of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), again changing its name after the Second World War to Aero Club of Czechoslovakia. The Aero Club of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic then broke up after the Velvet Revolution in November 1989. More Articles...
